Share Your Voice. Shape the College Journey.

Contribute meaningful insights that help students navigate college, careers, and life beyond graduation.

Contributor Guidelines

Clues for College connects genuine student voices and expert perspectives with an audience of current and prospective university attendees, helping them navigate the entire student experience—from managing campus life and coursework to securing financial wellness and planning their future careers. We welcome original contributions that offer practical advice, personal experiences, or analytical insights on the higher education journey.

Authors

We welcome submissions from:

Accredited professionals (e.g., faculty, counselors, admissions officers, career experts): lend your trusted expertise on all facets of university life and student success,
Academics and researchers: offer your knowledge and data to shed light on the contemporary labor market and trends in higher education,
Current students and recent graduates: share your firsthand journey-from navigating university life to making the leap into career transitions.

Content

We encourage submissions that fit one or more of the following four main types:

â–¸Practical strategies: actionable advice, guides, and tips that help students navigate the day-to-day realities of higher education (e.g., how-to guides on effective note-taking, checklists for working with deadlines, essential tips for finding a job/internship),
â–¸Expert guidance: prescriptive advice informed by professional experience, offering clarity on complex processes and decision-making (e.g., career counseling tips on placement, faculty advice on optimizing the submission process, admissions officer insights on navigating admission procedures),
â–¸Analytical insights: theoretical frameworks, data-driven analysis, and informed perspectives that help readers better understand key systems and transitions (e.g., analysis of industry shifts, essays on the efficacy of financial aid packages, research summaries on post-graduation challenges),
â–¸Personal narratives: relatable, actual accounts that share a contributor's journey, lessons learned, and the emotional context of the university experience (e.g., reflection essays on managing academic stress, "what I wish I knew" about transitioning to the workforce, personal stories of successful networking/mentorship).

We highly encourage submissions that naturally blend categories—for example, expert guidance from a career counselor should include practical strategies for application.

Audience and Tone

Write for an engaged, broad audience of current and prospective university students and their families. Make sure that your content is helpful, informative, evidence-based, and clearly structured. Avoid jargon and explain complex concepts simply for a non-specialist audience.

Formatting and Citations

We expect contributions between 900–1000 words. Maintain a conversational flow. Break up text with short paragraphs, clear subheadings, and engaging bulleted or numbered lists where appropriate. Use Title Case for all headings and subheadings (e.g., "How to Manage Your Loans"). Use double quotation marks (") for primary quotes; use single quotation marks (') for quotes within a quote. Use hyperlinks to reference external sources, data, or statistics. Please avoid academic styles (footnotes, bibliographies); citations should be simple and clickable for the reader.

Ethics and Originality

Submissions must be original and not published elsewhere (excluding your personal blog or social media). We do not accept content generated by Artificial Intelligence.
