Steps study in the United States

Review the colleges and universities that you are interested in applying to.  Consider items such as programs offered, length of time to complete the program, and degree level offered.  It is best to start this process 12-18 months before you plan to attend the school.

Review the financial obligations of the college or university you plan on attending.  Also, review what resources are available in terms of loans, benefits, scholarships, and financial assistance.  

Complete the application to the school by the deadline.  Include all of the required material such as exam scores, essays, recommendations, or other materials as required.  Also, fulfill any additional requirements such as interviews for the program.  Timely completion of this process will support the next steps. 

Apply for a student visa following the requirements necessary.  In your interview focus on why you want to study in the United States, how you plan on supporting yourself, and what are your plans for after graduation. 

Review all necessary rewwuiremnets for travel and have your documents ready.  Also, attend any orientation programs from the school.  Some other areas that may be helpful are staying connected with your school and asking any questions ahead of your travel. 

When you start your studies, stay connected to resources at your school.  Also, stay connected to home by maintaining relationships with family and friends.
